A Violent Graft in a Vulnerable Host: The Future of aGvHD Management: A Care Team Forum®
Program Overview
Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGvHD) is a common complication associated with allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) with high morbidity and potentially fatal outcomes. The skin, gastrointestinal tract, and liver are common targets of the disease. In this activity, Sung Won Choi, MD, MS, Gianni B. Scappaticci, PharmD, BCOP, and Chelsea C. Honstain, MS, FNP-C discuss the role of the interprofessional care team in the prophylaxis and management of aGvHD according to current guidelines and available agents. The panel will also discuss emerging novel therapies for aGvHD prevention and treatment and hear from an experienced patient.
Hematology, hematology/oncology, and transplantation clinicians
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
Align management strategies with disease grade and current guidelines for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) recipients who develop acute graft-versus-host disease (aGvHD)
Assess the potential impact of recent data and ongoing clinical trials of emerging therapies on the management of aGvHD
Integrate the unique roles and responsibilities of interprofessional care team members when managing HSCT recipients with aGvHD
