Millions in the United States are affected by diabetic macular edema (DME) and neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), both of which are leading causes of central vision loss. The introduction of several intravitreal therapies has changed the natural progression of DME and nAMD, making improvements in and restoration of visual acuity a reality for many patients. However, the frequency of intravitreal injections poses its own sort of burden on patients. The past year has introduced (and re-introduced) strategies to help alleviate this treatment burden, including new molecular targets, dosing strategies, and implantable devices. Listen as Dr. Arshad Khanani reviews the latest data on how to reduce the DME/nAMD treatment burden without compromising safety/efficacy.
