Steroid Dependent Acute GvHD: An Interprofessional Approach

Program Overview

Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGvHD) is a common complication of allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplant (allo-HSCT). Corticosteroids, usually at high doses, comprise the mainstay of first-line treatment for most patients, but can often be intolerable due to adverse events and the development of steroid-dependent disease. In this activity, an interprofessional expert panel discusses a physician-submitted case of a 45-year-old man who developed steroid-dependent aGvHD after undergoing an allo-HSCT for high-risk acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). The panel will provide insight and input from a medical, pharmacy, and PA perspective.
